Learning to input text

For the past week or so, I’ve been watching a Japanese TV series nonstop called “Hanayome To Papa” [花嫁とパパ] which translates to “Father and The Bride”. This is one series that definitely got me hooked, normally I don’t watch any TV series in my free time, I just enjoy doing other sorts of activites instead.

One of the reasons that got me so in to this series was probably because the plot was so diverse and intresting that makes my head spin of what’s going to happen next because big surprises are always happening!

It is also great to see different kind of camera angles used in these genres of media rather than sticking to action scenes camera angle. I'll be sure to keep in mind in case the coursework must be one of these genres.

The main female protagonist “Uzaki Aiko” played by Satomi Ishihara, she's definitely the reason I started watching it, that is because she's my favorite actresses to date. Why do I like her so much? Well, that's because she is always fulfilled with happiness and joy. She inspired me to be happy at all times and to be nice with people around me.

I actually like this series so much that I decided to make a lyrics video of my favorite singer MISIA with the footage of taken from the series. To my surprise, the footage amazingly works perfectly with the music. I would never thought to do a lyrics video on this song in before. 

The process of making the lyrics video was first, I select the best parts from all 12 episodes and make them fit in with the rhythm of music in Adobe Premiere Pro.

I then exported the file and put into another video software called Videopad, it is far less powerful than Premiere, but I can say that it's very simple and very intuitive to use. The main reason why I use it was that it was the easiest method to put in the lyrics for the video. 

Inputting the lyrics is actually the hardest part, if there's none in the internet, I must listen carefully to all the Japanese and check with the dictionary to see if it make sense at all. Sometimes, there are lyrics on the internet that somebody's done. But, most of the time, there will be minor mistakes such as a word been typed incorrectly. This is the most time consuming part of the whole process because it takes time to read through everything.

After export through Videopad, I gave myself a 30 minute rest and comeback to the exported video to check for any mistakes or anything missing from the song. If I do find an anomaly in the video, I'll go back the project and fix it right away. Luckily, this video does not contain any!

The song used was "会いたくていま" [Aitakuete ima] which translates to "I'm missing you now"

After uploading the video itself, I got an email from Youtube about the copyright claim, I was shocked that all my 6 hours plus making this video had just been ruined. Turns out I was safe. Phew.

Key Framing

Today, taught myself more in depth of how to use keyframe motions in Premiere Pro CC by making a video for the house, took an estimate of 4 hours and a half to edit the whole piece non stop. I am also getting more experience of how to make the footage itself to be more in sync with the video itself too!

1 Minute Film Challenge

The 1 Minute Film Challenge 

For the past 3 days, me and my 2 buddies Richy and Toy, were grouped together and was assigned by MrHarrison to create a 1 minute film. The 1 minute film can either be a recreation of a movie, a heist or an interrogation. We'd decided to go for the heist as it seemed to be the best choice yet.

The plan to shoot which shot first and at which angle was really useful when it came to shooting the actual film, we all had a brief idea of what to expect from the shot. Surprisingly, the final thing turned out what we wanted it to be!

Richy and Toy were both really good actors and their certainly on my top list of people to choose for my real coursework. They were both really energetic and are always ready to shoot every new scene. We did have a bit of help from our teacher, Mr Harrison and one of our new friend that just joined Harrow this year, his name was Kelly.

Myself, I'm the cameraman and the editor for this project; It was certainly very enjoyable to explore new camera angles with them. The project took roughly one period and a half to shoot and 5 to 6 hours to edit on Premiere Pro with some green screen effect as well.

After the recording, I've learnt something I'll never forget, that is to check the settings on the camera correctly before shooting, at the end we ended up with a 3:4 aspect ratio in 480p. I had a discussion with Richy whether to reshoot the film, he said to me that "It's fine, quality of the film doesn't matter if the final product is good enough".

During post production, I really enjoyed editing every single moment of the film, my face was full of happiness. When it comes to editing the green screen, I was thinking at first whether to include them. Since I have a lot of time, I just decided to go all out!

Overall, I'm really pleased with this first project and certainly one that'll be remembered , the effects and the enjoyable moment in shooting these individual scenes were amazing. Seeing all of it coming together in post production really is amazing. However, for next time, I'll make sure to check the settings on the camera correctly before shooting.
